World Health and Human Rights are closely linked. The constitution of the WHO (World Health Organization) says, "the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being..." Sadly, this is not the world we live in today. World HealthWhere do we start?
There is no question that the health levels in most nations are rising and will most likely continue to rise.
Unfortunately, the very structure of modern society may be the largest barrier to living a healthy lifestyle.
Take for example the obesity crisis in America. We are a nation of fast food and overeating, along with an associated a 60% obesity rate. At the same time, billions of dollars per year are spent on diets, exercise programs, and medical procedures. Even with just this single aspect of health - body weight - the question of where to spend our donation money isn't so simple - would money be best spent on better diet pills, gym memberships, taxing fast food, or something else? One could ask similar questions about the cancer epidemic now facing America and the rest of the world as well as a host of other health concerns from diabetes and heart disease all the way to alcoholism. Education and Prevention
There are already billions of dollars being poured in to drugs and pills of all forms.
This is one of the many reasons our efforts instead focus on education and prevention -
both of which are difficult to monetize (which is why most corporations won't touch them) and measure (why government agencies
are also hesitant).
Yet we believe in the long run education and prevention are by far the most effective measures. Take for example a class which teaches the benefits of a balanced and organic diet:
Human RightsDeclaration of Human RightsIn the immortal words of Thomas Jefferson, all humans should have the basic right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". The Bill of Rights further elaborated on these. More recently people have tried to define even more basic human rights that they believe should not be just extended to Americans but to all citizens of the world:
Fighting for Human RightsThere is a big difference between defining what human rights should be and actually creating a world where they are respected by every person and every nation. Don't expect someone else to grant you the rights you think you deserve. Our human rights work is dedicated to defining rights, enacting laws which guarantee rights, and fighting for the rights of those who do not have the means to fight for themselves. What You Can Do to Increase World Health and Human RightsDonate Time or MoneyIn order to feel more comfortable with donating your time and money it may be necessary to change your mindset to one of appreciation, abundance, and happiness. Once you see the world from a perspective of "I have enough" as opposed to "I need more" this will allow you to feel more comfortable with giving what you now feel you have too much of:

The Dreamer Volunteer Army is a way anyone can help make the world a better place by becoming a virtual volunteer. What is a virtual volunteer? This means you work as a volunteer from your home computer, on your own time, and on just the projects you feel comfortable with doing. Projects are assigned over email, and you choose whether or not you want to participate, so there's no commitment. What Dreamer is Doing To Increase World Health and Human Rights
While most charities and corporations focus on the development of medicines, pills, and techniques to combat the symptoms of
an unhealthy lifestyle, we instead focus on correcting the unhealthy lifestyle itself.
Our human rights work focuses on a declaration of human rights, education, and advocacy for those rights. We hope you will join us. Dreamer donates 100% of our profits to make the world a better place. One of our 5 charitable causes is Health & Human Rights. For more information see: How we're changing the world and How we donate to charity.
